We are in a cold war. For some of you who are unaware of this fact- this is a wake up call is urgent. The cold war can be described as the-matter-of-life-or-death. The cold war has one purpose, and one zealous passion, and that is to kill, or at least severely wound the purposes of all man-kind, and the zealous passion to pursue them. If we don't wake up our lives are as good as dead. The cold war attacks our senses to get to our hearts. It tries to make us numb or indifferent to what is really going on... so that we aren't moved... so that we don't feel or have the ability to relate to others. Or it will try to cast a lot over our eyes so that are blinded by what is to deceive us by what seems.
For those that are aware of the cold war.. the awareness only makes us have to be on guard at all times... we are recruited soldiers... and the only reason we have become keen to the cold war is because of the Revolutionary Love. What is the Revolutionary Love? It was and is Jesus. He is love, and He came to be a revolution. Because of Him being love.... you and I are called to be revolutionary, to awake to love, which is multifaceted.
One facet of it is: a passion that meets purpose. If your passion does not have purpose than your passion will lose it's strength. If you have purpose with no passion, your purpose will remain consistent with just existing. It will not exhilarate to such great heights, and eventually it will lose it's reason for being. And the purpose of the cold war that we are in, is to either extinguish our passion or stagnant our purpose.
Another facet of the Revolutionary Love is that it desires to correct! Warring in love! It longs for no one to perish in this cold war, so it will go to the extreme of rescuing... that act may cause one to correct another, one to refuse the world , one to be stretched... one to dive into the unknown, embarking upon the heights of faith. "A refusal to correct is a refusal to love."
Back to: Jesus was a revolution calling others to be revolutionary - and to do and be so through love. The act, not the feeling. To love others as our lives, and their lives depend on it. Loving others in this cold war is difficult, because the cold war knows to attack when we are weak, using man-kind to become in opposition with one another. If the cold war could get us to block our hearts from ever getting wounded by each other, we end up becoming more prone to being offended, or cultivating bitterness, or hatred.. or just a simple bruise of misunderstanding. If that occurs, then the cold war gets those laborers that once had calloused hands from being or becoming revolutionary -to grow cold hearts... becoming part-time lovers- falling away from their first love... Jesus... who said, "Love as your life and lives depend on it." Love with an expectancy .. though sometimes you'll have to suffer in silence, content to let God set things right, you will become convinced that nothing and no one can upset God's plans. You will remain to be a light- that will pierce the darkness- that will reveal the truth in the end. You will have to wait for God to deliver without losing your expectancy.
Most of us make the biggest mistake with assuming that it is people who are in the wrong, that they are out to get us... but the love of God says that "we don't fight against flesh and blood"... against each other, against people. It is no "afternoon athletic contest that we'll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. We fight against the principalities of darkness." And we forget sometimes that we, ourselves, were called out of darkness into light. And our old nature can at times rise up and feel as though we have ARRIVED! That we know it all... "there is no possible way that I am in the wrong here." If we get to that point.. there is no need for grace! Humility is the key to success in this cold-war. And obedience is the key to the getting back double or more than what is stolen from us. And time will tell. If we run this race with our head down or always looking back (back in the past) - and never ahead... in what direction do you think you'll run? You won't be running down the straight and narrow. You can't when you focus on the past... the hurt, the wrong. Love... is a revolution. And it is here to revolutionize the messes that are made we mere men try to fight this cold-war with their bare hands.. instead of choosing to be revolutionary!
Jesus was revolutionary when He humbled Himself, when He died to Himself.... He was selfless... His death was not for His glory, it was for all others. Jesus was revolutionary when He engaged with those who defied His will - murders, tax-collectors, adulterers... even those who would probably talk about Him behind His back with one crowd, then praise Him with another crowd. Don't you see? Jesus never chose when people asked Him, "Which to burry? Us or the hatchet?" He would say neither! A hatchet can be used to cut back the thorns or the branches in our lives so that we can grow stronger. Many times He will take away the first to establish the second. And Jesus never buried us when He should have.. so His redemptive power and reconciling grace has made us able to be what we were created for - THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE. So when circumstance engage us full throttle with this cold-war the bible says,
" Friends, when life gets difficult, don't jump to conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process- with glory just around the corner. Trust Him. He knows what He is doing, and He'll keep on doing it. So keep a firm grip on the faith. It won't be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ- eternal and glorious plans they are! - will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last words; yes, He does." 1 Peter.
"Wisdom always chooses the black eyes and the bruises." The reparation of this world, of our lives comes, from embracing His love!
Revolutionary: involving, or causing a complete or dramatic change.
Revolution: latin- "a turn around"

Thank you for your sweet words!
I love what you said in this post. Especially about passion needing purpose.
"If you have purpose with no passion, your purpose will remain consistent with just existing. It will not exhilarate to such great heights, and eventually it will lose it's reason for being." Wonderfully put!
Weirdly enough, i just blogged a little bit about purpose right before i read this.
It was so nice to "meet" you!
Maja,
My name is Amber Hoyt, and I go to New Life Church with August. I just want to let you in on the things I've seen. In my entire life, I've never met anyone like him. He has the purest heart of anyone I've ever known. He's ALWAYS smiling and incredibly genuine. One night a few months ago I saw him at our college service, Elevation, and I asked him what he was doing...he was kind of standing around while people filed in. He said he was waiting for people to get seated so he could find someone he didn't know to sit with. Seriously? Who does that?
I had the privelege of helping August's Ironman team as they swam their 80 laps, biked their 112 miles and ran their 26.2 mile marathon. As is true to his nature, your brother was consistently encouraging to his teammates and to me. I'm just sitting in a car while they're doing the hard work, and he constantly wants to know how I am or if there's anything he can do for me. At one point he fell off his bike, and for the first time ever, it looked like he was mad. He punched his fist in the air twice, got up to check if he was injured and kept right on going. When I asked him if he was alright, he said, "yeah, I needed that...Now I'm focused. Sometimes you need to make a mistake to get you re-focused." What?!! That's amazing! I don't know anyone who thinks like that.
The most impressive thing, however, was what happened of the Ironman. He finished his marathon, hugged a few people and talked to your mom. I could tell that something was up. He didn't look like he was finished. It was like there was still something he had to do. I asked him if he wanted to sit and rehydrate, and he said, "No. I have to go get Jordan and Joe." (It's a good thing you can't see my face...I'm about to get emotional.) Your brother finished his ridiculously strenuous day of swimming, biking and running, and instead of crashing, he went back to get his friends. Joe finished long before Jordan did. August stayed with Jordan until the end. On top of the amazing-ness of that feat, it reminds me so much of Jesus...how He is with us through the finish...how He will leave the 99 and go get the one...how He will never leave us nor forsake us. I feel like August should win a prize like MVP or something like that, and even as I say it I know he would not receive it. He was just doing what comes naturally to him. And for that I know, your brother will change the world.
I don't know your parents, but I think they've done an incredible job raising their kids. I know God has given them what they've needed to create the children they have. August has only ever said incredible things about you and his family. He loves you more than he can express. You are one lucky sister, indeed.
Thanks for supporting August's decision to come to Arkansas. There are many lives that will be changed because of him just being him while he's here. It's our privelege to call him friend.
Blessings to you!
Amber Hoyt
Sweet Maja...Thank you. I told August last night that I want to take you to go get coffee when you guys come up for graduation week. Is it a date? :-)
I just had a thought. I don't know if you're much into fiction, but Ted Dekker (my favorite author) wrote a book called Blessed Child. It's about a child who grew up in a monastery for the first 10 years of his life, but has to leave when the monastery is attacked. When he leaves the monastery, he has an innocent view of the world and a keen insight into the Kingdom of God. There is a lot more involved in the plot, but I just figured out that August reminds me of that boy: deeply connected to the Kingdom and innocently loving toward the world. It's the perfect description. **Incidently, the boy in the story does go on to change the world. Just throwing that out there...:-)**
Have a blessed day friend!
Amber
